The Netwidget DNS Appliance is targeted at the medium size enterprise that wants a reliable plug and forget dedicated DNS server.

The DNS Appliance Range

Standard Features

All models provide the following standard features:

  1. Dual 10/100MB LAN interfaces.

  2. Firewall - auto-configured for DNS and outgoing only support.

  3. Router with NAT - supports up to 254 hosts on secure network side with a single IP address.

  4. DHCP - Can act as client (external network) and Server (internal network) for up to 254 hosts.

  5. PRECON - User can build High Level Install to work out-of-the-box or to reduce the installation process to an absolute minimum based on unique requirement.

The DNS Appliance comes in a range of models to suit various requirements:

Notes and Explanations:

  1. Secure: User option allows the zone to be signed crytographically to standards defined by the latest DNSSEC standards (RFC 4033, 4034 and 4035). Provides optional support for the Domain Lookaside Validation (DLV) method.

  2. TPS: Maximum DNS Transactions per second.

  3. Archive: Zone files and transaction logs archived to optical media for secure storage.

  4. RAID: RAID 1 (mirrored) disks. Hot-swapped with external (push-button) removal and insertion for fast user replacement.
